D.C. Council votes 11 to 2 to legalize same-sex marriage in the District; second vote to follow
The D.C. Council voted Tuesday to approve a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in the first of two scheduled votes on the legislation. Following the vote, the council will take a second vote in two weeks before the proposal goes to Mayor Adrian M. Fenty (D), who has vowed to sign it.
