MORNING HEADLINES

Senate Democrats vote to bring health bill to floor for debate (Washington Post)

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid rallied just enough support from his fellow Democrats to ... begin debate on the Senate's version of a health-care reform bill. There's a long way to go yet, as Reid is aiming to have a final bill passed around Christmas.

Senator Cements Role at Heart of Health Debate (New York Times)

And welcome to the Blanche Lincoln era. The moderate Arkansas Democrat was the final holdout in voting Saturday night to end the Republican filibuster of the Senate's health reform legislation. As reporter Carl Hulse aptly summarizes: "No sooner had Senator Blanche Lincoln promised to deliver one crucial vote in support of a health care overhaul than she threatened to withhold the next one."

Spokesman: Schumer Open To Public Option Negotiations, But They Haven't Started (TPMDC)

Talking Points Memo reports that some of the centrist Democrats that claim to have problems with the health reform bill in the Senate will work with Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) to hash out a compromise on the public option aspect of the legislation. Moderate Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) and others are likely seek a "trigger" compromise from Schumer and other senators that have supported a stronger public option.

Dead? Revived? Nate Silver dissects the rollercoaster ride that is the status of a public option in the Senate's reform bill.
