EPA To Hold Public Meeting Regarding Perflourochemical Contamination Near Decatur, Ala.

(Atlanta, Ga. – November 18, 2009) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will host a public availability session and meeting Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at the Moulton Recreation Center in Moulton, Ala., to share information with residents about the status of the investigation of perflourochemical contamination from biosolids applied to agricultural fields near Decatur, Ala.  Representatives from EPA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR),  the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries (AL A&I), and Public Health (ADPH), and Decatur Utilities will participate in the meeting.

 

A public availability session will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to answer residents’ questions one-on-one.  The public meeting will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and there will be an opportunity for additional questions and answers at the conclusion of the meeting.  All interested persons are encouraged to attend.
