Gold rises from the lowest level in two weeks as the dollar fell

LONDON: Gold rose on Friday, after a meeting yesterday at the previous lowest level in two weeks, after the dollar's decline boosted demand for the precious metal as a hedge.

At 06:40 hours GMT, gold was trading in online transactions at 996.55 dollars an ounce, compared with 993.75 dollars in late New York trade Thursday.

Silver rose to 16.20 dollars an ounce from 16.18 dollars. The price of platinum 1292 USD 1297.50 dollars. And palladium was trading at $ 291 from 291.50 dollars.
