Dollar dips below 90 yen to 7-1/2 month low

LONDON, Sept 25 (Reuters) - The dollar fell below 90 yen to a 7-1/2 month low on Friday as traders bet Japanese authorities would not take action to stem the yen's rise against a broadly weak U.S. currency. The dollar dipped to 89.98 yen, according to electronic trading platform EBS, its lowest since mid February, and down more than 1 percent on the day.

The yen rose sharply against other currencies while the trade weighted value of the U.S. dollar was down about 0.5 percent on the day.
