Next week, the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission begins almost a year’s worth of public hearings to try and understand what cause our economic meltdown. Here are a few things that have caught my eye so far: items on jobs, AIG, and Wall Street pay. LATER TODAY ON MARKETPLACE Google has applied to be an electricity trader to meet its huge energy needs and take advantage of renewable energy sources. Is the technology giant on its way to becoming an energy utility? Jeff Tyler reports. The American Historical Association is meeting in San Diego, but they're not just talking about the past. Katharine Brooks, director of liberal arts career services at the University of Texas, Austin, talks with Kai Ryssdal about the job climate in liberal arts, and it looks pretty bleak. Latinos who get through high school go on to college at nearly the same rate as white students. But the problem is a lot of them don't finish. Emily Hanford reports.
